CAUSEWAY United boss Andy Mole admitted having no complaints following his side’s 1-0 FA Vase exit at holders Spennymoor Town.
The Halesowen side held out until the 72nd minute before Keith Graydon’s fabulous free kick settled the issue.
Causeway had gone with the aim of stifling Spennymoor and the plan almost worked.
Mole claimed: “We kept them quiet. Had we conceded an early goal, then I think the crowd may have gone very partisan, but by half time we had them groaning at their side. “The longer the game went on, the more it was going our way. But the free kick was a goal to win any game. He put it right in the stanchion”.
Causeway came close to clawing the game back when Jack Pearlman had a shot turned round the post by goalkeeper Peter Jeffries with time running out.
Pearlman was then sent off following a late fracas.
Mole insisted: “They were very nice people and they clapped us off the pitch at the end and told us we’d pushed them all the way. We earned their respect, which was lovely to hear. The lads will learn so much from this.
“The players went off to have a night out in Newcastle – they deserved it after doing the Midland Alliance proud!
Causeway must now knuckle back down to the Midland Alliance when they host Alvechurch this Saturday at The Grove
