More to come from Causeway: Mole

CAUSEWAY United haven’t hit top form yet - and manager Andy Mole couldn’t be happier.

Last Saturday’s win at Heather St John leaves United lying fourth in the Baker Joiner Midland Alliance, goals from Aaron Lloyd and Alex Cowley helping them come from behind to win 2-1.

Ahead of what Mole describes as a testing visit of Loughborough University he said: “We haven’t taken anyone apart yet, we’ve just done enough.

“The time will come though when you don’t but good sides know how to win, and bad sides know how to lose. Heather never really troubled once we adapted to the condition of the pitch and we had chances to have won more comfortably.

“We haven’t hit top form but I’m quietly pleased. I’m quiet happy we haven’t peaked yet as I think it’s better to do that after Christmas rather than fall away. And to be truthful I haven’t seen a side yet who you could say were real quality, it’s all all about us really and how we perform.”

Central midfielder Jack Pearlman is a doubt to face the students after getting a kick in the kidney against Heather and rested rather than trained this week. Sean Pugh is still out with a sceptic foot.

“They {Loughborough} gave Tividale a decent run for their money and only lost to a last-minute goal so we won’t taken them lightly, and I will drum into the lads how important every game is.”

On Tuesday Causeway visit Leamington from the Skrill Conference North in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Far from using the game to give players a run out Mole wants to win every game so expects to make few changes.

“Friendlies are the time to look at players. When you pull the shirt on in a competitive game you want to win, and that’s what I’m in football for to win games and keep winning them.

“It’s a cup that I like and the sort of game you want to be involved in. I won’t throw the chance of a win and a possible money-spinning game against a big club just to look at players.”
