Old Hales celebrate another goal. Old Hales celebrate another goal.

TOM Bulteel scored five as Old Halesonians Hockey Club thumped Redditch 10-1.

Strike partner Chris Hill also bagged a hat-trick in a rampant display against the league’s bottom side, who have not won all season.

After a scrappy opening five minutes, Old Hales gradually took control and grabbed the lead when Bulteel converted a penalty stroke.

The second arrived quickly as Hill netted from close range and Hales went 3-0 up when a Redditch defender deflected the ball into his own net.

Bulteel smashed home another penalty stroke before Gareth Knight added a fifth. Bulteel completed his treble and added another for good measure before the break.

Hales started the second half slowly and Hill missed the chance to make it eight, when he fired a penalty stroke high and wide.

But he soon redeemed himself, ripping the Redditch defence apart with a mazy run before slotting the ball past the keeper.

Bulteel scored his fifth before Redditch pulled one back, though Hill ensured the visitors had the final say by rounding off his hat-trick with a cute reverse stick finish.

Elsewhere, two goals from Nigel Smith earned the fourths a 2-0 win at Harborne before beating Sutton 5-0 with the veteran bagging another brace.

The fifth XI, who followed up Saturday’s 5-2 defeat at Solihull Blossomfield with a 1-1 draw at Rugby and East Warwickshire 24 hours later.
