Snow can't stop Clarke

JOAN Clarke battled through three inches of snow to be the first Stourbridge runner home at the National Cross Country Championships.

The eight-kilometre course near Sunderland was a mud bath covered in snow but that didn’t stop Clarke as she finished in 41 minutes and 49 seconds to finish 229th out of 427 total runners.

Zoe Yeomans was the next Stour runner home, clocking 50.42 to come 377th overall, while Ruby Ooi finished in 65.08.

The men’s event took place over 12km and Stour’s only entrant, Ian Clarke, finished in a time of 96.00.
