DUDLEY’s Michael Rutter teamed up with Dutch Champion Danny de Boer as Bathams Honda returned to compete in the British Superbike Championship with a two rider line up at Silverstone Rutter qualified in 12th but a mistake in the first race after being pushed wide onto the grass and a 16th place finish was to be race one’s result.
A sixth row grid start for race two saw Rutter fight hard but with the Bathams Honda searching for speed, 18th place was the best Rutter could manage; “I really felt like I rode well this weekend, we just didn’t have the speed,” said Rutter.
“I was getting overtaken and I just couldn’t do anything about it. I couldn’t fault how the bike handled, we just needed more speed. It was brilliant to have Danny in the team, he’s a great lad. I followed him for a few laps in the first race and he looks very quick and safe. It’s really helpful having a team mate.”
De Boer had a good first race with a 17th place finish. Unfortunately a clutch problem for race two meant he had to leave the grid after his sighting lap and was unable to take part in the second race.
Bathams Honda return to Brands Hatch in Kent for the final race of the 2013 British Superbike Championship from October 18-20.
