OLDSWINFORD teenager Ellie Lawrence has proved a huge hit on the golf course this year after snapping up a string of titles.

The 17 year old Haybridge Schoolgirl captured both the Hereford and Worcester Schools Under-18 title and the County Junior Under-18 crown.

As a result, Ellie went onto represent Hereford and Worcester in the Midlands Under-18 Championships at Loughborough, where she finished runner-up, losing out by two shots after 36 holes of competition.

Proud father Paul Lawrence claims: "She practises continually at Enville Golf Club where she is coached by head professional Sean Power.

"She was on the England coaching programme at one point but had to drop out owing to her handicap, which is five, when ideally, she needs to be playing off scratch".

Following her switch to Enville, Ellie has mopped up most of the prizes the club has to offer.

She is the current ladies club champion, winner of the President's salver and doubles champion along with her playing partner Tommy Cox.

Ellie is hoping to study sports science at university with a view to working with and coaching disabled athletes
