KINGSWINFORD boxer Mitchell Stevens has won the Midlands Elite ABA title.
The fighter from Brooklands ABC in Woodsetton, Dudley, defeated Aaron Lovell at the Irish Centre, St Anne's Church, Digbeth, Birmingham last Saturday.
He will now travel to Newcastle this Saturday to compete in the quarter-finals of the national championships.
Stevens is trained by former English middleweight champion Darren McDermott, who also competed for the British and Commonwealth titles.
McDermott said: "It was a great win for Mitchell. He started slowly again, which is something he tends to do, but then finished very strong.
"He got himself into the fight and then took control. He has progressed really well and now goes on to fight in the quarter-finals of the nationals this weekend.
"It is also great for the gym to have a fighter that wins the Midland Elite Title. We have only been going a couple of years and he has added to another title to the list."
