HALESOWEN swimmers travelled to Braunstone for the annual trophy gala on Saturday and made it five victories in a row.

By halfway, Halesowen had established a clear lead from the chasing pack and were more than 20 points clear with only the final relays remaining.

The team continued with a strong showing right through to the final event and lifted the trophy yet again.

Double event winners were Josh Bradley in the individual medley and backstroke, James Cuthbert in the breaststroke and butterfly and Mark Laing in the freestyle and butterfly.

Other winners were Lily Merrell and Jacob Darby in the breaststroke and Jack Simpson in the backstroke.

The relay teams were strong with both the girls’ and boys’ 13 and under teams including Emma Bird, Amber Harrison, India Hanke, Robert Jennings and Owen Crump unbeatable in both medley and freestyle events.

The 11 and under girls Isobelle Cashmore, Melissa and Sophie Parsons and Holly Simpson won the freestyle relay.

The 15 and under girls Molly Kelly, Lauren Hill and Talia Mitchel won the medley relay and the men’s team including Ryan Davies and Luke Morris rounded off the gala by winning the final freestyle relay event.

Final scores were Halesowen on 291, Melton Mowbray 259, Market Harborough 245, Braunstone Blue 238, Hinckley 212, Coalville 199, Braunstone White 197, Witney 156.
