GORNAL Athletic boss Andy Wyton says his players need to change their attitude if they want to become a more consistent side.

The Peacocks drew 1-1 away to Dudley Town last Saturday after a Carl Martin volley rescued a point for the Garden Walk outfit.

Wyton said: "We have shown that we are far better than the performance we put in against Dudley. Our big problem is that we don't show what we are capable of on a consistent basis.

"We are the best side in this division when we are ahead but the worst when we are behind.

"Dudley put three in the middle of midfield and stopped us playing how we want. However, when we went more direct we started to trouble them.

"Some of the players need to change their attitude and way of thinking and realise that we can't always get the ball down and play, you have to have a plan B during the course of a game.

"I want to play attractive football as much as anyone but we need to start earning the right to play that way first. If we do that we will be a lot more consistent."

Gornal have been dealt a big blow with the news that star striker Dreniz Bala will be sidelined for eight weeks with an ankle injury.

Wyton says he will now be looking to bring in a replacement in the coming weeks.

Athletic will travel to take on Stone Old Alleynians in the FA Vase this Saturday.
