HALESOWEN Town manager John Hill believes the club's good cup results will benefit their league campaign.

The Yeltz smashed East Midland Counties Premier side Ellistown and Ibstock United 7-1 away in the FA Cup last Saturday to book a third qualifying round tie away against Conference North outfit Guiseley.

Iyseden Christie became just the third player in history to score a double hat-trick in an FA Cup fixture.

Hales then followed up that win by claiming the scalp of a youthful Coventry City side in the first round of the Birmingham Senior Cup at The Grove on Tuesday night.

Ben Haseley's first home goal of the season gave the Yeltz a deserved victory.

Home pressure at the start of the second half saw Haseley slot home the 61st minute winner after strike partner Christie pulled the ball back from the by-line.

Hill thinks the recent cup victories have helped boosted confidence ahead of his side resuming Northern Premier League action at Matlock this Saturday.

He said: "It has been a much better week for us. The cup games have been a bit of a welcome relief.

"We have played without much pressure and the cup matches have also given us a fair amount of time to work on a few things that could benefit us in the league.

"It will have helped our confidence and the players have more of a spring in their step. We now need to try and keep that going this Saturday against Matlock."

The club have been boosted by the arrival of defender Tesfa Robinson.

He had been at Chasetown for the past two seasons and had also started the 2014/15 season at The Scholars.

Robinson has also represented the St Kitts & Nevis national team where he will now return for a stint on internation duty before he can make his Yeltz league debut.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup will be at The Grove today following the club's progression into the next round. Fans will be able to have their picture with the trophy between 6.30 and 9pm.
