HALESOWEN Town can now go from strength-to-strength after their first home league win of the season, says manager John Hill.

The Yeltz claimed a much-needed three points at The Grove when beating Rushall Olympic 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Town finally came out on top after suffering late heartbreak in their previous two matches.

They conceded 93rd minute equalisers away at Ilkeston and then at home to Stamford last Saturday.

Hill said: "It was very frustrating to take just two points out of six when were ahead so late in the games. However, the players have stayed positive and kept the right attitude.

"They knew we weren't far away and have kept believing.

"Getting our first home win is very important and is a big psychological step for the team. We now need to look to build on it and keep our good form going.

"Even though we have drawn a lot of games this season, it shows we are in the games and are being competitive at this level."

Against Rushall, it was the Yeltz that went ahead when Ben Haseley fire low Rushall goalkeeper Cameron Bedford in the 15th minute.

Hales enjoyed a comfortable second half after Joe Hull rose to head the Yeltz into a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute after meeting a left wing cross from Tom Tonks.

The game was put to bed in the 81st minute when Neil MacKenzie found substitute Iyseden Christie near the halfway line. He in-turn played the ball for fellow substitute Elliott Turner to slot calmly past Bedford.

A key factor in Halesowen's recent form has been a switch in formation that has seen a lone strike deployed upfront to enable an extra man in the middle of the park.

"The players have responded well to the system we are playing at the moment, but it is players and not systems that win you games," added Hill. "They have applied themselves really well."

The Yeltz will look to build on Tuesday's success when they travel to take on Buxton this Saturday.

Robert Thompson-Brown (hamstring), Aaron Forde (hamstring) and Danny Bragoli (thigh strain) are all doubts for the weekend.
