DUDLEY and Stourbridge Harriers athlete Lee Slater had a fantastic run in the first Birmingham League cross country race at Leamington last weekend.

On a very wet and slippery course, Slater ran well finishing an excellent ninth overall in 34min 15sec.

With all three divisions combined in the first race to give a field of over 735 runners. This was a great performance in such a high quality race and shows all his hard work in training is paying off.

This also meant that Slater won the Division Two race by a clear margin. Dave Nation also had a good run on the very muddy course for 121st overall and 28th in Division Two with a time of 38.29.

Dave Ratcliffe took 40th place in 39.13, Rob Meredith followed up his second place in the Droitwich half with 53rd in 39.31 and Ian Mansell came 101st in 42.07.

Darrell Bodin was the sixth and final team scorer with 118th in a time of 43.10. DASH team finished ninth on the day with 341 points.
