KINGSWINFORD cyclo cross star Hannah Payton will be looking to make up for lost time when she heads for Hoogerheide in Holland this weekend with the intention of getting her season back on track.

Illness over the festive period knocked her progress back, but she returned to action by finishing sixth at the National Championships which took place in Abergavenny.

She said: "The illness was a real setback as I had flu over Christmas and wasn't able to train.

"I've now had three good weeks of training behind me and I'm hoping to do well in Holland which is the final round of this season's World Cup races."

Hannah will then be representing Great Britain for the World Championships which take place at Tabor in the Czech Republic on January 31 before returning back to her winter base in Belgium for the remainder of the season.

She added: "I would have finished fifth at Abergavenny, but my chain fell off and it cost me a place.

"Being based in Belgium hasn't been easy, but I feel I've improved as a rider by racing against full time professionals."
