GORNAL Athletic boss Andy Wyton says it is vital his team keep the pressure on the two teams above them in the Premier Division of the West Midlands League.

The Peacocks currently sit in third but are level on points with second placed AFC Bridgnorth and leaders Sporting Khalsa.

The duo at the head of affairs both have games in hand on Wyton's men but the Garden Walk gaffer is keen to keep the heat on his rivals when they face Wolverhampton Casuals this Saturday.

He said: "Our aim is to keep out unbeaten run going and at the same time keep the pressure on those above us.

"Khalsa have games in hand and should go on and win it from here, but we must be in a position to take advantage should they slip up.

"There is still a long way to go and anything is possible, especially if they have someone breathing down their necks.

"Wolverhampton Casuals will be tough because they are in a false position and have recently brought in some new players. But we are confident at the moment and are keen to get back playing again."

Athletic were set to take on Bolehall Swifts on Tuesday night ahead of this weekend's league action.

The game will be Gornal's first action in more that a fortnight after last Saturday's proposed fixture against local rivals Dudley Sports fell victim to the weather.

Wyton has a full strength squad to pick from after the recent run of postponements.
