STEVE Brookes hit the only goal of the game as Barley Mow Wanderers beat King William to secure a place in the final of the Dudley and Cradley League's John Higham Trophy.

In a one sided game, Barley Mow dominated from the start and should have been two up at the break but John O’Keeffe blazed the ball over when in a one on one situation and the Simon Nunn missed a header inside the six yard box

The second half started the same as the first with Barley Mow dominating the game. Simon Nunn missed a chance when one on one with the keeper and it took until the 70th minute for the deadlock to be broken when a Mark Clifford corner was met at the back post by veteran Brookes who planted his header into the roof of the net.

King William did push for the equaliser but the current holders of the John Higham Trophy did not trouble the Barley Mow defence.

Barley Mow will play Coseley Tavern in the final on Sunday, May 17 at Gornal.
