WITH very little on the calendar over the Easter weekend it was an opportunity for athletes from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club to concentrate on eggs rather than legs, although there was an opportunity for anyone looking for something a little faster to try a Parkrun.

These are free to enter events organised by volunteers and are 5k timed runs at various venues throughout the country at 9am every Saturday morning.

Some see it as a race, some as an organised time trial or good tempo session, for others it’s a challenge to get round and a good social event.

By far the most popular amongst the blue hoops was the one at West Park in Wolverhampton where Dave Norman was first back for the club in 15th place in 18.41, Gary Bonner was 18th in 18.54, Steve Wood 21st in 19.24, Graham Wildgoose 23rd in 19.49, Simon Hughes 28th in 20.03 and Mark Judge 29th in 20.07.

Mark Homer came 32nd in 20.22, Malcolm Pillar 51st in 22.07 to record a new PB, Sally McConville 113rd in 26.00, Dave Ede 131st in 26.59, Preston Grundy 135th in 27.18 and Paul McNee 164th in 29.36.

Elsewhere, Ben Foster travelled to Telford for their version for the second week in succession and crossed the line first to maintain his unbeaten record at the Shropshire venue, shaving a few more seconds off his PB finishing in 16.14. At Evesham, Lindsay Pulley recorded 33.05 for 115th place at their Parkrun.
