CAUSEWAY United's draw with Lye Town on Easter Monday shows how far they have come since the last time the sides met, says secretary Mac Powell.

Lye's 8-0 Boxing Day hammering of United earlier in the season led to former boss Andy Mole stepping down and his assistant Mark Jones taking the hotseat.

However, Causeway have shown major improvement in recent weeks and highlighted their progress with a victory over Loughborough University last Saturday and a 1-1 draw with Lye on Monday.

A Joshua Thomas March strike in the first ten minutes handed them a 1-0 win when Loughborough visited the Grove.

March was again on the scoresheet two days later at Stourbridge Road.

Powell said: "We did well against Loughborough and should probably have won by more. Their goalkeeper made a string of good saves late on.

"We then had to battle really hard against Lye but did well to take a point.

"I think it does show how far we have come since the last time the two sides met. We are now a lot stronger at the back and have not conceded many goal recently.

"We had about five players who took part in the first game and Mark Jones was also involved, so I think they all had a point to prove after Boxing Day."

Causeway are now set to welcome Heath Hayes to The Grove this Saturday before facing Long Eaton United next Tuesday.
