WOLLASTON Tennis Club made the most of last Saturday’s beautiful weather by holding a Easter holiday tournament.

The event, which included two junior competitions and an adult doubles event proved popular with members.

The three tournaments were all run on Saturday afternoon at the club, which is based in Prestwood Drive, Stourton. Some of the play took place on its artificial clay courts.

The junior mini orange tournament, which was played with shorter rackets, softer balls and slightly smaller courts, was won by Sam Green.

He won a tight final defeating junior club championship winner Michael Scriven in a hotly contested final.

Harvey Rutter claimed the junior mini green ball competition with a win over second place Daniel James in a nail biting match of few mistakes.

The adult tournament was also a close affair. The final was contested between mother and son partnership of Alison Grove and Will Molony playing against Henry James and Chris Armstrong.

The final required a championship tie break to separate the players with Alison and Will finally triumphing 10 – 8 to take the trophy.

Tournament organiser Chris James said: "This was another great fun day for both adults and juniors of all ability. The club is set in such a lovely location and the courts are in great condition, it was an ideal way to spend a sunny spring afternoon. The summer league fixtures start in April, so this was a great way to warm up for the first league matches.”
