ROWLEY Regis' Jason Welborn says he is ready to give fight fans a show during his Black Country battle with Dudley's Ryan Aston this Saturday.

The duo will go head-to-head for the Midland Area light middleweight title at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The D-Day bout sees Welborn attempt to defend his crown once again, this time against ‘Tank’ Aston on the PJ Promotions’ ‘You Asked For It’ show.

He said: "My preparation has been great. I have really enjoyed it and have been learning a lot in gym.

"I'm now counting down the days until Saturday when we can finally get the fight on. It is great that we both go there in good shape after good camps.

"I have been in with southpaws before and know what I need to do.

"I feel I have been unlucky at British level and will be aiming to return there as soon as I get the job done on Saturday. My focus is fully on Aston at the moment but that is my motivation.

"I have put a lot on the line for this fight but it is what the fans want to see."

The event will also see two other Midland Area title fights as Redditch’s Andy Robinson faces Prince Davies for the super middleweight belt and Des Bowater fights Bobby Jenkinson for the featherweight strap.

However, a proposed match between Luke Paddock and Chris Truman will no longer go ahead after both men suffered set-backs in the build-up to the contest.

Fellow Black Country fighters Tyler Denny and Les Byfield will also be in action on the undercard at the weekend.

Denny comes up against Aaron Robinson while Byfield faces Matt Seawright.

Tickets will be available at the door on the night. Doors open at 6.30pm with fighting likely to get underway an hour later.

Fight fans unable to attend the contest can follow the action with The News’ live online updates.

We will be providing round-by-round coverage of Welborn v Aston and Robinson v Davis as well as news of undercard results.
