STOURBRIDGE got their pre-season preparations off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory at AFC Bridgnorth.

Jamie Insall, one of four trialists on display for the Glassboys, headed in from close range with six minutes left on the clock.

Former Kidderminster Harriers youngster Insall was top scorer in West Midlands League Division One last season with Bromyard Town.

He started the game along with fellow trialist Nathan Hayward before James Baldwin and James Hill come off the bench later in the game also looking to impress.

The Crown Meadow friendly also saw the Glassboys handed new signings Charlie Price, Kristian Green, Lee Chilton, Dan Scarr, Stuart Pierpoint and Tom Tonks their first showings in a Stour shirt.

After a goalless first half against last season's West Midlands League runners-up, Green gave Stourbridge the lead on 47 minutes with a low angled driven shot. But the advantage lasted just four minutes before the home side drew level through Tyler Sands-Fowkes.

Finally, with time running out, Insall pounced to hand Gary Hackett's men the win.

Their pre-season continues at Bewdley Town on Tuesday night (7.30pm)
