ARRON Mogridge is determined to finish the season in style with some big scoring in Cradley’s key reserve spot.

Mogridge piled up the points in last week’s Golden Hammer, which pulled in a packed crowd, beating some of the league’s top riders along the way.

And with the new averages for September due out soon, he is set to remain at reserve which means he can take extra rides if members of the main body are out of form.

The Hammer was a timely confidence boost for Mogridge as the club prepare for a crucial spell of fixtures, with a trip to King’s Lynn on Friday followed by a trip to Coventry on Sunday before they host the Lynn at Perry Barr next Wednesday.

With their battle with co-tenants Birmingham for the National League title heating up, Mogridge knows they need to be on top form as they chase the top spot.

He said: “I rode well in the Golden Hammer, I felt as fast as I have all season and I came away with plenty of confidence.

“I know I can do it, and it was good to show what I could do against some really good riders. I rode sensibly and it was a big step in the right direction.

“It’s just a case of starting well and finding some rhythm, which I need to do more and I’ll be trying to do over the rest of the season.

“Hopefully I can carry the confidence from that meeting on to my next few and I can manage to end the season strongly.

“Every meeting is obviously very important for us now with Birmingham holding that healthy lead at the top of the table.

“But after beating them recently we can still catch them, and if we can win our next few fixtures it will put plenty of pressure on them.

“It’s going to be tough with some away meetings coming up, they are never easy, but we have to take it one meeting at a time.

“We need everyone on form and we need to pull together as a team, so I’ll be trying to make sure I do my bit and help us keep on winning.”
