OLD Halesonians produced a pleasing 3-1 win over Sutton Coldfield in the Midlands Men's Hockey League.

Victory was all the more impressive as the Halesonians had to come from behind following a goalless first half.

Sutton struck first when they scored from a well worked corner routine.

Halesonians hit back from a short corner of their own, Tom Bulteel's rising flick being saved by Sutton's goalkeeper, but skipper Paul Woodall proved quickest to respond and slotted home.

With Halesonians now looking much more threatening, they soon took the lead when Cole Hickman cracked home before Ash Greaves added a third.

This was Halesonians fourth win in six starts and takes them to third in the table.

But their good run of form will be put to the test this Saturday when they host unbeaten top of the table side Worcester at King Edward Five Ways School starting at 1.30pm.

The Second XI lost out 3-1 to Telford while the Thirds beat Bromsgrove 4-2. The Fourths were held to a goalless draw by Stratford while the Fifths won 4-0 against Worcester.

Halesonians Ladies lost out 4-1 against Droitwich.
