LYE Town lashed Loughborough Students with six of the best this week and stretched their winning run to four games in the process.

Lye were looking for revenge over the Students having lost to them 4-1 earlier in the season and their heaviest defeat of the campaign.

Croatian striker Dreniz Bala bagged a brace of goals and was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick when he had a goalbound shot helped over the line by Kalum Evitts.

It was Bala's first goals for Lye following his recent arrival from West Midlands League side Gornal Athletic.

James Spray also struck twice for Lye with new signing from Stourport Swifts James Baldwin completing the scoring spree as the Stourbridge Road side secured a 6-1 verdict.

The victory followed Lye's 1-0 win over AFC Wulfrunians on Saturday when Kalum Evitts pushed forward from left back to bag the only goal of the game.

Ironically Lye beat Wulfrunians by the same margin the previous week in the League Cup.

Lye's recent upturn in form will be put to the test this Saturday when they travel to high flying Sporting Khalsa, a side they have already beaten at home this term.

Lye have also been drawn against Southern League side Banbury United in the Birmingham Senior Cup, but adatefor the game has yet to be confirmed.

While Lye are currently looking to improve their squad further, they have suffered a blow by losing Sam Beasley to Midland League rivals Alvechurch.
