NETHERTON’S fine form continued with victory over Himbleton last Saturday.

Their 133-run success at Highbridge Road made it four wins from the last five games in division three of the Worcestershire County League.

Visitors Himbleton won the toss and elected to field against their third-place opponents.

However, skipper Russell Oseland led from the front as he smashed 83 before being bowled by Jem Rose, who had earlier taken the wicket of fellow opener Matt Lowe.

Other solid contributions from number three Troy Lee (40) and Paul Harris (52) helped the hosts to 250-8 from their 50 overs.

Rose was the pick of the Himbleton bowlers as he ended with four wickets for the loss of 40 runs.

The visitors’ run chase got off to a poor start as Jon Critchlow was trapped lbw by Dominic Priest for a duck.

Priest struck again to remove Alastair Pretty and leave Himbleton on the ropes.

Opener Ashton Greenwood (23) and top scorer Sean Jenkins (38) offered some resistance before falling to Zoheb Tariq and Lee respectively.

Tariq eventually bagged a five-wicket haul to help Netherton bowl out their opponents for 117.

The win keeps Netherton in third spot ahead of this Saturday’s trip to mid-table Avoncroft (1pm).
