NERVES were shredded when Coombs Wood hosted Enville last Saturday in what turned out to be a brilliant and close fought game.
Enville posted a competitive 248-8, and in reply, The Wood lost wickets at regular intervals but got home in the very last over thanks to a quite brilliant 94 not out from Dave Meehan.
The win keeps The Wood in the hunt for promotion ahead of their trip to Feckenham on Saturday (1pm start).
Meanwhile, The Wood held their nerve to win by four runs at Colwall in Division One 2nd XI.
Naeem Abbas hit 71 as The Wood were bowled out for 227, and then took 2-39 with the ball as the visitors bowled their hosts out for 223 in the 48th over.
Runaway leaders Worcester Nomads are the visitors this weekend (1pm start).
