STOURBRIDGE striker Justin Richards is facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering serious knee injuries in the FA Cup victory over Nantwich last Saturday.

Richards ruptured his patella tendons on both knees when he landed awkwardly during stoppage time.

His left knee was the worst affected as his kneecap had moved upwards. In both cases he was unable to straighten his legs.

The Glassboys have said the forward was operated on in Crewe during a 45-minute operation to repair the damage, and is now been walking on crutches. It is hoped that he will be able to return home today or tomorrow.

A club spokesman said: "On behalf of all at Stourbridge FC, we would like to wish Justin a full recovery, although we understand that it is unlikely to be a quick one.

"We would also like to thank the medical staff at Nantwich Town for their assistance in treating Justin alongside our own Richard Drewett."
