CHARLOTTE Bardsley produced some impressive results as she represented England at the Hungarian Youth Open.
The 14-year-old Heathfield School pupil qualified for the cadet girls’ singles knockout stages thanks to finishing second in her group, clinching her place with a 3-1 (11-13, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5) victory over Martina Novakova of Czech Republic.
She then came from 2-1 down to defeat Sweden’s Alma Roose 3-2 (13-11, 1-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-7) in the last 64.
Her run came to an end in the last 32 at the hands of Serbia’s Andjela Menger, who won 3-1 (3-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-8).
In the doubles, Bardsley and partner Jasmin Wong were eliminated in the first round by Natalia Divinska & Zuzana Pekova of Slovakia, who won 3-0 (11-9, 11-7, 12-10).
Bardsley and Wong also featured in the team event but were drawn in a tough group with Belarus, Sweden and Singapore, losing every match 3-1, though Bardsley picked up England’s point against both Belarus and Sweden.
