BLACK Country Triathlon Club has been celebrating both individual and club success in the Triathlon England West Midlands awards for 2016.

The BCT Sprint Triathlon won the regional award for the best adult event of the year and the BCT Junior Duathlon has the award for the best junior race.

The winners were announced last Sunday at the regional awards ceremony and the nominations have now been forwarded for national selection.

The BCT Junior section also led the West Midlands Junior Club league throughout 2016 and won the junior shield for 2016.

In addition, the club had a number of individuals who took podium places in the West Midlands junior age group series.

Reece Ashfield took first place in the Youth age group with Oliver Evans finishing third; and Joel Humpage came second in the TS3 age group category. The series took place throughout the triathlon season and saw 24 juniors from the club competing in aquathlons, duathlons and triathlons.

Club chairman Andy Southall was delighted to hear the news and said: “The fact the club is winning awards for junior and adult events is a tribute to both the junior coaching and events team through to the adult event organisation including free novice race training”.

The club benefits from having fully qualified level one and level two coaches to assist both adults and juniors and fantastic support from both its adult and junior members and parents which allows them to provide existing and new members with training guidance and advice and put on such great events.

BCT still have one more event for 2016, the BCT Splash and Dash aquathlon open to both adults and juniors, on December 4 at Ounsdale Leisure Centre, Wombourne. Entry details can be found at blackcountrytriathletes.com
