Evo-Stik Northern Premier League: Skelmersdale 0, Stourbridge 4

SUPERB Stourbridge put aside their FA Cup heroics to improve their promotion prospects when blowing bottom of the table Skelmerdale side away with a stunning first half show.

The Glassboys cut loose after 22 minutes when full back Kristian Green broke from the half way line and let fly with a spectacular 25 yard shot which struck the underside of Skelmersdale's crossbar on it's way into the net.

Stourbridge made it 2-0 on the half hour mark when Skelmersdale struggled to clear a Chris Lait corner enabling first Jordan Archer and then Jack Duggan to set up the chance for the league's leading marksman Luke Benbow to smash home a memorable goal.

Benbow controlled the ball on his chest with his back to goal before swiveling to fire home on the turn to register his 16th league goal of the season.

Stourbridge added a third goal four minutes later when Tom Tonks released the dangerous Matt Dodd down the right flank, who in turn delivered a low cross which saw outstretched Skelmersdale defender Dylan Smith divert into his own goal beyond the reach of goalkeeper Chris Cheetham.

Five minutes later, Stourbridge made it 4-0 when Dodd again raced free down the right and crossed for Lait to head home.

Stourbridge could have netted further goals, especially on the 62nd minute when highly prized central defender Dan Scarr, who spent the week training with West Bromwich Albion, headed against the crossbar from another Lait corner.

Two minutes later Skelmersdale 's misery was made complete when Dylan Smith was sent off after picking up two yellow cards for bringing down the pacey Dodd.
