DUDLEY Town have appointed goalkeeper Ashley Horton as the club's new assistant boss after Jason Connon left the role at the end of the season.

Horton will now work with manager Andy Allardice and fellow assistant Matt Watts during next season's West Midlands Premier League campaign.

The Robins will look to stay well away from the dropzone next term after narrowly avoiding relegate this season.

Connon, who has also been a fitness coach at the club, steps down after a year in the role due to personal reasons but will stay on as a commercial manager.

Boss Andy Allardice said: "Jason is committed to the club and he gave 100 per cent as assistant manager.

"We are pleased to give the job to Ashley Horton. He has experience of management at Sunday League level and also knows a lot of players. He will stay as the club's goalkeeper but also help witht he management as well."
