CONFIDENT captain Josh Banks says Stourbridge won't fear anyone following their impressive start to the new season.

Stour are looking to bounce back after relegation from Division Two of the Birmingham and District League and have made the perfect start to their recovery mission.

They backed up their opening day success at Streetly with last Saturday's nine-wicket win over Nuneaton to move into third.

Skipper Banks has underlined how important it was for his squad to recapture that winning feeling.

He said: "There is a real buzz about the place at the moment. It wasn't great last year and sometimes you can forget the feeling of what it's like to win.

"It has been fantastic to get off to a good start.

"We have also strengthened the side, which has helped, and our bowling attack has good depth and balance about it."

Winning the toss at Nuneaton, Stour were soon rewarded as 16-year-old Zain Ul Hassan bowled Jason Jackeman for three. From the other end in the next over Jade Richter had John Allen trapped leg before for four.

Fired up by the early successes Stour took Nuneaton wickets at regular intervals to bowl then out for 90 with new man Dan Such bagging four for 16 off nine overs.

In reply, Stour reached their target in the 28th over with only the loss of Alex Bingham for 29. The experienced Harshad Patel remained not out on 30 and Ul Hassan was unbeaten with a quick-fire 16.

"We want to get back to enjoying the game," added Banks. "It is all about small targets and small steps for us rather than just focusing on promotion. We'll have a look at our position half way through the season and go from there."

The captain at the War Memorial Ground is now looking forward to this Saturday's home clash with early-season leaders Brewood (noon start).

He added: "There is a rivalry between the two sides, which will make it interesting, but we have a good head-to-head record against them. We'll go into the game more than confident of getting the win because I don't think we'll fear anyone this season."
