STOURBRIDGE made it a hat-trick of bonus point league wins with a convincing victory away at Sheffield.

The Stourton Park side were without fly-half Chris Scott for the match, which is the first of two consecutive trips to Yorkshire.

Veteran Rod Petty stepped in at number 10 while another club stalwart, Adam Sturdy, made his first competitive appearance of the season.

Stour opened the scoring with a try on nine minutes from the speedy Dan Rundle following clever interplay with Afeafe Haisila who then slotted the conversion to add the extras.

Stour opened the door to the hosts by conceding a series of penalties which eventually resulted in a shot at goal for the hosts following an offside however Andy Hodgson hit the post to let the Midlanders off the hook.

Tries for Stour from George Morgan and Steve Leach plus a conversion from Hailsila cemented Stour's domination.

Nick Davies, on as a replacement for Ben Tibbetts, returned a Sheffield kick to Joe Heatley at scrum-half who made ground before passing to Hailsila who crossed the line for a try which he then converted.

Sheffield finally appeared on the scoresheet with an unconverted try but Stour were in prime position at the break with a 26-5 lead.

Stour were first to register in the second half with an unconverted try from Heatley, his fourth of the season, after 53 minutes.

Sheffield hit back with tries from Connor Mitchell and Rupert Broadley and a Hodgson conversion.

It was Stour who were to have the final say despite being reduced to 14 players with Petty in the sin bin.

A penalty kick to touch led to Stour possession and the ball was moved left at speed for Nick David to touch down for a try which was converted by Hailsila.

The match finished Sheffield 17-38 Stourbridge and Stour will look to continue their 100 per cent start to the season next week when they travel to Wharfedale.
