Stourbridge RFC 33 - 31 Sedgley Park

THE Stourton Park crowd were treated to a titanic clash from two in-form teams which delivered the good on all fronts.

Stourbridge started brightly with Joe Heatley crashing over inside 60 seconds to give the hosts a dream start.

Conversions were hard to come by in a stiff breeze and Sedgley pushed forward to equalise from a driving maul.

Stour were next to cross the whitewash when Jack Lea took advantage of Stour pressure to put the hosts back in front.

They were caught napping by cheeky tap penalty and Nathan Rushton went over in the corner to level.

Stour then took control in defence and attack, Trinham added a try and Nick Murphy touched down after a drive from a line-out.

The half time score was 26-12 but Sedgley were in no mood to give-in and had the better of a cracking second period.

Rushton scored for the Manchester team three minutes after the restart before Lea hit back for Stour.

Sedgely spent much of the rest of the half camped in Stour territory, Callum McShane and Oliver Glasse scored to narrow the home side's lead to two points after 57 minutes.

The game was always set to be Stour’s biggest test of the season so far and they withstood intense pressure the the final minutes to secure a hard-fought but hugely entertaining victory.
