CRADLEY Town boss Andy Wyton couldn't believe his bad luck after watching his side lose 1-0 at Herefordshire side Wellington.

Luke Griffiths grabbed the only goal of the game - but the real talking point was the manner in which skipper Josh McKenzie got himself sent off after allegedly squirting water into the face of a Wellington player.

Wyton was quick to admit he didn't see the incident - but neither did the referee, who was informed about the incident by one of his assistants.

Wyton was less than impressed and said: "We were 1-0 down at the time and I'd just made changes, bringing off striker Dreniz Bala so I could push Lee Chilton further up front. Then this happened.

"They'd been arguing all game and Josh admitted to me afterwards that he shouldn't have done it and he'll get banned for that. We won't be appealing.

"I don't know what provoked him to do that and can only think that his head fell off.

"It put the seal on one of those games where neither side deserved to win. A score of 0-0 would have been fairer."

Wyton expects to complete the signing of Lye Town central defender Adam Meacham in time to face West Midland League Premier whipping boys Wellington Amateurs this Saturday at Beeches View Avenue.

It's Wyton's second key signing after previously capturing Lee Chilton from Halesowen Town with the Cradley boss confirming that the travelling was proving a problem for both players.
