STOURBRIDGE boss Gary Hackett says the celebrations for their winner over Buxton on Saturday highlights just how much the players care.

The Glassboys won 2-1 thanks to Leon Broadhurst's injury-time strike as they bagged their very first Saturday league success of the season at the War Memorial Ground.

Stourbridge had to come from a goal down to take the spoils in a close-fought contest. Luke Benbow had earlier cancelled out Alistair Taylor's opener.

Hackett was pleased with the win but was keen to highlight the desire the squad has to put things right after a inconsistent campaign.

He is also determined to finish the season on a high, starting with the reverse fixture at Buxton this weekend.

He said: "I think we have drawn around seven home games this season and that just shows you where we are.

"Things would be a lot different if we'd have turned a few of those into wins.

"Overall, I think we deserved the win on Saturday. It was quite an even first half but we edged it over 90 minutes.

"Leon Broadhurst has popped up once again for the winner as well.

"The celebrations for the winner shows you how much it meant to the players.

"Sometimes from the outside people think that the players don't care or aren't working hard but that is far from the case.

"Our aim now is simply to finish as high as we possibly can. I'm not going to talk about targets anymore.

"There are a lot of games to play and a lot of points to be played for.

"We all want a strong end to the season. We'll keep working hard and see what we can do."

Meanwhile, the Glassboys have secured the services of striker Kaiman Anderson for another month.

"We're really pleased to be able to have kept him," added Hackett.

"The goals may not have flowed but the work-rate has been there. I get the feeling that it won't be long until Kaiman starts to hit the back of the net."

Another bonus for Stour last Saturday was the return of goalkeeper Matt Gould.

However, the Glassboys will also be without the absent Darryl Westlake this Saturday and defender Jack Duggan remains sidelined with injury and may be struggling to return before the end of the season.

On last week's departure of winger Matt Dodd, Hackett added: "He is an engaging character and as good as a winger as you can get at this level.

"He's just struggled with injuries and momentum at times this season and we all felt that it was time for a change."
