GARY Hackett will give young striker Brandon Hague the chance to shine for Stourbridge after his recall from Lye Town.

Hague, who came through the youth ranks at the War Memorial Ground, has seen his progress halted by injury since breaking into the first team but has now returned from a loan spell ahead of the run-in.

The manager is pleased to get the forward back involved as the Glassboys look to bounce back from derby disappointment against Halesowen.

Stour lost 1-0 at the Grove last Saturday as Ahmed Ali's first half strike was enough for the hosts to take the bragging rights and a derby day double this season. Stour ended the contest with 10 men after Stuart Pierpoint saw red for halting an Ivor Lawton burst forward in the second half.

Hackett said: "It is good to have Brandon back. The plan was always to send him to Lye to get his fitness back, get games and then come here for the busy spell at the end of the season.

"He's been really unlucky with injury over the last two years but hopefully he can come in and have an impact.

"I will certainly dangle the carrot and it's up to him to take it."

On the defeat against the Yeltz, he reflected: "It does hurt because there was a lot at stake. I also think that we were on the end of some poor decisions by the referee and certainly didn't get the rub of the green.

"All we can do now is respond in the right manner. We've discussed the game and the things we didn't do right and now we'll focus on a tough game this weekend."

The Glassboys' clash with Stafford Rangers was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch on Monday so they will look to get back to winning ways when they go to Hednesford Town this Saturday.

Defenders Pierpoint and Aaron Hayden will boss miss the game due to suspension.

Stour will also have to assess injuries to Aaron Forde, Leon Broadhurst, Connor Gater and Louis Hall before the weekend.

They return to the War Memorial Ground to entertain leaders Altrincham on Monday, April 9 (7.45 pm kick-off).

Meanwhile, Stour's Birmingham Senior Cup semi-final against West Bromwich Albion will take place on Wednesday, April 18.

The home game will kick-off at 7.45pm with the winners advancing to the final where they will play Nuneaton Town or Hednesford Town.
