NEIL Shillingford is targeting victory over local rivals Stourbridge Lions as Dudley Kingswinford look build more momentum heading into the Midlands One West play-offs.

DK secured a play-off place thanks to Saturday's 35-17 success over Stoke and will now head to Stourton Park for the much-anticipated derby clash (3pm kick-off).

Director of rugby Shillingford is keen to take the bragging rights from a contest that could also provide a big lift heading towards the end-of-season finale.

He said: "It's a game that everyone wants to be involved in.

"They will be be keen to spoil the party a little and it's a game we really want to win as well.

"We're not sure if we'll be on grass or their artificial surface but we'll just go there and play or game regardless.

"Sometimes you can over-think it. We won't worry about what's to come and will just be focused on Stourbridge.

"It is a chance to keep our run going and to continue to build momentum."

A win this Saturday could also prove pivotal in DK's quest to bag a home play-off game.

It looks likely they'll face Syston in the play-offs after the Midlands One East side lost to leaders Bedworth last weekend.

With the Heathbrook outfit still to play three games they have the potential to out-point their fellow promotion hopefuls and secure a home tie. However, there is still uncertainty if their final games will go ahead should there be nothing on the outcome.

On the Stoke win, Shillingford added: "We had to work hard for it but we got everything we wanted from the game.

"We'd identified that we needed to start the game well and we managed to do that.

"We then took the foot off the gas a little and switched off and they tested us. In the end we adapted and saw the game out well."

DK have no major injury concerns ahead of the Lions clash.
