ASSISTANT manager Matt Clarke has urged Halesowen Town's players to end the season in style.

The Yeltz put in a fine showing to draw 1-1 with Ashton United at the Grove last Saturday but then slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Coalville Town on Tuesday night.

Roland Agbor netted for Hales against Ashton before the visitors left it late to find a leveller.

Clarke has underlined the importance of ending strongly as he and manager John Hill being to make early plans for next season.

He said: "Our aim was to go unbeaten until the end of the season and even though that was stopped by Coalville we still must make sure we see it out properly.

"As soon as we secured our status in league we have been working and planning for next season.

"Myself and John have been looking at the players we have and also trying to earmark players that will be able to improve us.

"So there is still plenty for the players to play for. There is still time to show us how much they want to be involved.

"We can't just allow the season the peter out. We have to finish in the right manner. We've told the players how important that is."

On the last two games, he added: "I think Ashton are probably the second best team in this division but we were outstanding against them.

"It is the best we have played for some time and shows what these players are capable of.

"When you concede so late it does feel like a loss.

"In the end I was disappointed for the fans but also the players because they really did deserve three points.

"Against Coalville we were really good in the first half and had chance after chance that we just didn't take.

"They were the better side after half time and I thought we looked tired in the last 20 minutes, which is a little understandable after such a hard season."

The Yeltz will now go to Warrington this Saturday as they begin their final three games of the campaign.

Brad Lewis (hamstring), Jordan Goddard (thigh) and Ivor Lawton (knee) remain doubtful for the weekend.
