IT felt like turning back the clock when former giants of local cricket Old Hill entertain arch rivals Stourbridge.

However, times have changed for both clubs and this meeting took place at the Birmingham League's fourth tier.

Stourbridge have made a strong start to the season and began the game joint top of Division Three together with Rugby.

After winning the toss, Old Hill were duly inserted to bat first and managed a modest total of 115 all out after 36.4 overs.

Stourbridge responded with 119 for five, but it took them 34.4 overs to achieve their target.

Ravi Nagra struck top score of 34 for Old Hill while Dan Such clinched the bowling honours for Stourbridge with a splendid return of six for 20 from 13.4 overs while Jitesh Jiven-Patel picked up three for 35 off nine.

Stourbridge didn't have matters all their own way in reply, but a patient 27 off 87 balls from Matt Bradley coupled with a further 37 not out from wicketkeeper Mavarick Perry paved the way for victory.

Old Hill skipper Jonathan Wright admitted: "It was a good toss to win, had I won it, I would have put Stourbridge into bat first.

"Although 115 doesn't seem a very big score in the context of things, had we scored another 25 runs, it would have made for a very interesting game.

"Quite a number of sides batting first this week only managed to score around 120 and yet still won.

"We bowled superbly well, but without much luck. However we made Stourbridge fight for the win.

"We've got a very strong bowling attack this season but the batsmen need to give the bowlers something to work with.

"Although we lost, I wasn't massively disappointed, because we played well.

"I was much more annoyed by the previous week's defeat to Lichfield, because we just showed sheer complacency on that occasion".
