IT was a stunning week for cricketers in Halesowen as all four teams brought home victories in their matches.

In a low-scoring game at North End Lane, Halesowen firsts defeated Barnards Green by eight wickets after dismissing their hosts for 88.

The top scorer for Barnards Green was extras with 34 after Charlie Hartley took 5 for 29 and Masharaf Shazad polished off the tail with four wickets for one run in 6.2 overs.

An unbeaten 57, from 54 balls, from Ed Kilbee eased Halesowen to an easy win and up to fifth spot in the table just seven points from third with bottom placed Wellington visiting Seth Somers Park next week.

Captain Alexei Kervezee said: "It was an interesting surface to play on as it actually got better as the day went on. They decided to bat first and the ball kept very low at times making it difficult for their batters and interestingly our keeper.

"Credit to Charlie Hartley as he carried the attack this week and bowled full and straight which put them under a lot of pressure. Then once again Ed Kilbee was calmness personified as he coaxed the ball round the ground to lead us home. I was also delighted yet again with Mushy (Masharaf Shazad) for his performance with the ball. Each week he contributes with the bat or ball and at 18 years old is one of the first names on the team sheet. It’s just great to see him mature every week."

Meanwhile, the second team endured a nail biter against Barnt Green 2s chasing down 223 they relied on a late display of hitting and good calm accumulation of runs from Captain Joe Tromans (63) but also Mohammed Shauib (59) who opened up with a sound base to set the innings on its way.

However it was left to two 17 year olds in Nathan Hines and Archie Reeves to see the team home amidst jubilant celebrations with just one ball left. Earlier left arm spinner Harry Kitchen (4-59) led the way with the ball and now the team sit top of the table.

The third team had a resounding victory against Himley posting 252-4 thanks to John Aston (91*), Richard Cox (52*) and Shaz Gill (47) before ploughing through Himley's batting dismissing them for 118 with Jonty Preece 4-10 ripping through the lower order. The 3rd team remain top of their League with 7 consecutive wins on the bounce.

Finally, the 4th XI picked up their first win of the season beating Himley thanks to a standout 110 run partnership between Alex Farrar (75) and 13 year old Rayaan Ahmed (46) to chase down 223 and win by 6 wickets. All in all a clean sweep of victories which is testament to the hard work of everyone so far.

Halesowen firsts will now welcome Wellington to Seth Somers Park this Saturday (noon start).

The seconds are at Womborne, the thirds at Tenbury firsts and the fourths will welcome Tenbury seconds to Earls High.
