HALESOWEN Swimming Club finished a solid third in the Worcestershire County Championships.

With 61 swimmers heading to the meeting, Hales had the largest contingent of any club in the county for the fourth year running and claimed four senior and four junior titles.

Chloe Robbins took victory in the 100-metre senior individual medley and the 50m senior butterfly. Other senior champions were Chloe Finch in the 1,500m freestyle and Josh Bradley in the 100m individual medley.

Finch also took the 1,500m freestyle junior title and followed it up with two more wins in the 400m individual medley and 200m butterfly. Jacob Darby was victorious in the 100m freestyle.

In the individual age group events, Finch was outstanding again by winning nine first places. India Hanke secured five first places, Mark Laing four and Chloe Robbins grabbed three, with Lauren Hill, Sophie Page, Rebecca Spoor and Ben Meakin being the other group event winners.

To cap an excellent performance, Finch set championship best times in six events and claimed the Alan Babb Trophy for breaking a record by the largest margin in the 1,500m free.

Laing broke the 50m butterfly and freestyle records with Hanke setting a new best time in the 50m freestyle.
