Ahmed is Social hero in decisive league win

STOURBRIDGE Social returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory at home to Harvington in the Worcestershire League Division Three.

Social were all out for 176, Dan Wilkes top scoring with 53 in a good partnership with Lance Mellor, and Ikram Mussadaq hitting 38.

They then had the visitors reeling through some quick wickets from Waqas Ahmed and Usman Riaz who continued to press throughout the innings.

Ahmed had taken his wickets tally to five when the rain intervened and it looked like it would be the main object in Social’s way.

But when Pete Smith was caught by Paul Clarke off the bowling of Ahmed for 16, victory was in sight for the home side.

They did not have to wait long, Ahmed removing Tom Heywood to dismiss the away side for 86 and finish with stunning figures of 8-41 as Social climbed to fifth in the table.
