Unbeaten Jones helps Kinver to league summit

KINVER Constitutional A went top of the Stourbridge Snooker League with a 5-0 whitewash of Stourbridge Institute A.

Chris Jones extended his unbeaten start to the campaign, while there were also wins for Darren Oakes, Jason Oakes, Jason Hickman and Andrew Highfield.

In a contest between two other teams expected to challenge for the title, Norton Social A beat West Mid Police 3-2 at home to remain second.

Ashley Aston and Steve Mason gave Norton a flying start before Adam Ness made sure of the win. Pete Gibbons and Kev Franklin took a frame apiece to give the Police a share of third.

Snooks SCA are five points off the top thanks to a hard-fought 3-2 win away to Pockets SCB.

Adam Harvey and Craig Harris both won narrowly and Stuart Hale secured the win, before Pockets replied through Alan Turner and Bob Moran.

Snooks B team completed the double with a 3-2 win against Pockets A thanks to Paul Vyze, Craig Nicholls and Chris Price.

Brierley Hill Sports Bar C enjoyed their first win of the season at the expense of their B team. Ian Priest was triumphant in the all-important decider.

Netherton Sports and Social edged two points clear at the top of the First Division with a 4-1 success at Dibdale SC.

Steve Howells, Andy Barnett, Carl Webb and Paul Bowen won for the leaders, who have dropped only four frames to date.

Kingswinford Cons A held on to their unbeaten record and second place with a hard earned 3-2 win at neighbours Kingswinford RBL A.

John Cartwright, Fred Dent and unbeaten John Rees saw them home while Steve Small and Gregg Reece won for the hosts.

Brierley Hill Sports Bar D took advantage of a bye for Amblecote RBL to move above them into third courtesy of a fine 3-2 win on the tables of Kinswinford SC, while Stourbridge Inst B won 3-2 at home to Kinver Constitutional C.

Dean Banks, Tom Moran and Alan Cope won for the Institute while Norman Jennings and Steve Nicholls replied for the visitors.

Rookies Matt Johnson and Adam Coley won again for Amblecote Inst B as they beat Wombourne 3-2.

Amblecote Inst C remain top of the Second Division thanks to a 3-2 win at Kingswinford Cons B, with Roger McManus stepping in to help out and Pat Willis and Colin Homer both claiming narrow wins.

Kinver Constitutional D remain second, one point behind, following a 3-2 win at home to Baggeridge Social.

Luke Whale and Frankie Bennett, with a break of 30, won for the visitors but Graham Tranter, Bob Jones and Matt West took the match for Kinver.

Amblecote Inst’s D team edged into third, two points off the summit, when Ian Manley, Mark Daniels, Mark Robson and Cary Homer completed a 4-1 win against Kingswinford RBL B.
