Squash club join record bid

STOURBRIDGE squash players are hoping to make their mark on history this Saturday.

Players from all over the world are uniting to play the biggest squash game ever on World Squash Day, with Stourbridge Lawn Tennis and Squash Club playing their part.

Starting at 3pm, the Sugar Loaf Lane club will field two teams of 20 players — one named Team Squash and the other Team 2020 — with rivals playing one game up to 20 points.

The scenario will be replicated at clubs across the world and the scores from each club added up to create an overall global result between Team Squash and Team 2020.

Organisers hope the hope the total number of competitors will run into hundreds of thousands. It is hoped the event will strenghten the bid for inclusion in the 2020 Olympics.
