Kinver go clear at top after win

KINVER Constitutional went six points clear at the top of the Stourbridge Snooker League thanks to a 4-1 win against Snooks SCB.

Jason Oakes, Darren Oakes, Chris Jones and Jason Hickman were their winners, though they were denied a clean sweep by Lyndon Burns, who cleared the last four colours to beat Andrew Highfield.

Pockets SCA went second after a 3-2 home victory over Brierley Hill Sports Bar C. Darren Rose, Andy Smith with a break of 56, and Kevin Ellis were their winners.

Brierley Hill’s A team returned winning ways with a well-contested 4-1 success against the club’s B team.

Netherton Sports and Social still have a two point lead at the top of the First Division, despite suffering defeat at the hands of Kingswinford RBL A.

The Legion came out on top thanks to Steve Small, Dave Reece and the ultra-consistent Andrew Brown who secured a 3-2 win in the deciding frame.

Netherton remained top because second placed Kingswinford Cons A also lost their first match when neighbours, Kingswinford Snooker Centre, came visiting and left with a 3-2 win.

Two previously unbeaten teams clashed in the Amblecote derby, where the Legion took advantage of home territory to beat the Institute 3-2. Steve Ball, Barry Young and Mark Jeffries, in the decider, secured the win.

Stourbridge Institute B shaded a close encounter at Norton Social B thanks to Tom Hamilton, Dan Harbach and Alan Cope.

Jamie Cartwright and Steve Parkes won narrowly for the home team.

Both Kinver teams enjoyed good results, with the B team edging through 3-2 at Wombourne, while the C team took all five frames at home to Dibdale SC.

Amblecote Institute C made it five wins from five with a win against their D team to open up a four point lead at the top of the Second Division.

Roy Pugh pipped Cary Homer on the black in what proved to be the decisive frame.

The D team do at least share second spot with Stourbridge Institute C and Kinver Constitutional D, whose own clash resulted in a 4-1 win for the former.

Nick Aston, Carl Green, Trevor Pardoe and Simon Tyler won for Stourbridge with Graham Tranter gaining some consolation for Kinver.

Baggeridge Social, last season's Knockout Cup winners, just eased home against Kingswinford Cons B with Frankie Bennett accounting for his namesake Leigh in the crucial decider.

Amblecote Institute E won their first match 3-2 away to Kingswinford RBL B.
