Ritchings can't wait for Mildenhall showdown
3:00pm Monday 22nd October 2012 in Local Sport
DAZZLER Darryl Ritchings aims to continue his stunning run of form when Dudley Heathens host their biggest night of the modern era at Monmore on Tuesday (7.30).
The former Cradley club host Mildenhall in the first leg of the National League Grand Final – followed immediately by the second leg of the Knockout Cup Final.
That’s 30 heats of speedway on a bumper night to bring the curtain down on a memorable season.
Influential No.1 Adam Roynon returns to the fold following a nasty back injury, and Ritchings has pinpointed his return as a possible turning point.
He said: “It's been going good for Dudley. All the team have rode well and we've had some great results.
“We just need to see if we can finish it off well at the end and make sure we win the league.
“I'd like to say we have what it takes to beat Mildenhall. We finished top of the league and we know we are capable of beating them, we just need to hope we all perform on the night.
“Having Adam (Roynon) back will be a big boost. He's come back and is already scoring big points elsewhere, so having him leading us against Mildenhall again would be great.
“I had a good semi-final against Stoke and I’m determined to do the same against Mildenhall.”
Heathens are hoping to take a handy lead from the first leg to Mildenhall for the return fixture on Wednesday when the title will be decided.
Admission for Tuesday’s double header is £15 adults, £10 concessions and £2 children. A 36 page full colour commemorative programme has been produced and costs £3.
