Brave DK's downed again

Dudley Kingswinford 14, Sedgley Park 48

DESPITE suffering their 28th straight defeat of the season, the DK's shouldn't be too downhearted.

There was much to admire about this latest setback, especially in the second half when there was a real danger the floodgates would open.

The Dk's didn't help their cause when they had second row pairing of skipper Ed Parry and Nick Murphy both sent to the sin-bin within minutes of each other during the first half.

By half time, the DK's were 29-0 down and there was a real danger that a very impressive Sedgley Park side would run riot after the interval.

They'd already run in five tries before half time and it wouldn't have done the Dk's confidence any good when full back Andy Riley registered the opening touchdown within 75 seconds of the kick-off after winning the chase to a kick ahead.

Too many missed tackles allowed speedy El Mahdi Tahir in for a second try before flanker Jon Bishop bagged a third.

It was while DK's were down to 13 players that James Flynn produced a fourth and bonus point try for Park before outside centre Matt Riley stole over for the fifth.

DK's raised their game after the break and shocked Sedgley Park when outside centre Donovan Smile forced his way over for a try following a sustained assault on the line.

If that was a surprise, there was another in store when full back James Jefferson scored a second DK's try - his first of the season.

Gareth Bown increased the points tally with two well taken conversions.

Park responded with a try from winger Jamie Harrison before second row Louis McGowan and outstanding No.8 Matt Lamprey, who looks destined for a much higher level, took the Manchester side's try tally to eight.

Although beaten, there's just a glimmer of optimisum that the DK's could still record a win from their final two games.
