STOURBRIDGE Lions continued their winning streak in Midlands Two West South following a hard fought 17-8 success over Nuneaton Old Eds.

The first half proved a fast and physical affair which saw the Lions take the lead through a well struck penalty from fly half Sam Wilson but that was quickly cancelled out by Old Eds with a penalty of their own through Elkerton.

Second half exchanges continued in the same fashion, until Lions gradually got on top with hooker Fred Brookes, making his debut, scoring the first of his two tries following a pulsating break which Wilson converted.

Brookes then popped up on the overlap to secure his second try, which Wilson again improved upon and the Lions looked well set for victory until poor discipline saw two of their players yellow carded within the space of five minutes.

Old Eds took their chance and secured a try through Elkerton, but the same player missed the conversion as the Lions held out for victory.
