BATSMAN Tom Kohler-Cadmore celebrated his maiden LV= County Championship century - and then signed a new contract with Worcestershire.

The 21-year-old reached three figures for the first time with a superb 130 not out against Middlesex at New Road.

The former Malvern College pupil, who had 12 months remaining of his current deal, put pen to paper on a new two year contract until the end of the 2017 campaign.

Kohler-Cadmore follows Joe Clarke, Ed Barnard, Joe Leach, Tom Fell and Brett D’Oliveira (three years) and Ross Whiteley (four years) in committing his future at New Road.

Kohler-Cadmore has made a big impact in the NatWest T20 Blast this summer, finishing as the Rapids second highest scorer behind skipper Daryl Mitchell.

He lost his place in the LV= County Championship side after struggling for early season runs but made the most of his recall for the final two games in place of the injured Alex Gidman.

An impressive innings of 89 against Durham at the ICG Emirates was followed by his maiden ton off the Middlesex attack.

He said: “It is nice to sign on and have a bit more security at the club to be able hopefully in the next couple of years show them what I can do.

“I feel there is a lot more to come. I haven’t really scored the weight of runs I would have liked this year.

“But it was massive to get that first century, to get that off my back really.

“The first one is probably the hardest one to get and once you’ve got one, you have the belief and the confidence that you are going to get a lot more.

“I’m real proud of the achievement and look forward to next year now.

“It went well in the T20 and was then nice to finish well in the Championship.

“Hopefully in the future I can deliver in all formats for the club.”

Director of cricket Steve Rhodes said: “Tom has come back into the side and some of the areas we asked him to go away and learn in second team cricket.

“He has certainly learnt them and now he can build an innings.

“He is taking better decisions at the crease and is scoring good runs.

“Getting that hundred was a big relief to him, I know that, and thoroughly deserved.

“He has also got a fine pair of hands at first slip and he showed that again in the Middlesex game.

“Tom is another cricketer we want to have around and over the next two years.

“He will be with us and I’m sure he will be winning lots of games for Worcestershire.”
