MOEEN Ali enjoyed a lengthy bowl on the second day of England's warm-up match against a South African Invitational XI in Potchefstroom.

The Worcestershire all-rounder had two spells of seven and 10 overs respectively and finished with figures of 17-8-34-1.

Moeen began with three successive maidens and finished with 7-3-18-0 from his first burst of action.

He enjoyed his one success on his return when Heinrich Klaasen, who plays first class cricket for Northerns and keeps wicket, pushed forward and was caught by skipper Alastair Cook at slip for 48.

The Invitational X1 were eventually dismissed for 188, with Stuart Broad claiming three wickets, to leave them 282 in arrears.

England opted to bat again rather than enforce the follow on and reached 85-3 by the close of play with one day remaining.

Moeen did not have chance to add to his overnight 33 not out as England declared their first innings on 470-7.
